The organization Manos limpias (“Clean hands”) was the one that caused the judicial investigation against Sanchez’s wife
The Spanish government today denounced the “misleading” lawsuit filed by a collective close to the far-right, which was the reason to launch a preliminary investigation against the prime minister’s brother Pedro Sanchez.
The organization Manos limpias (“Clean Hands”) was the one that caused the judicial investigation against Sanchez’s wife.
“It’s Manos limpias again. Once again, we are faced with a misleading lawsuit based, again, on excerpts from online tabloids,” government spokeswoman Pilar AlegrÃa said, confirming to reporters that the prime minister’s brother is under investigation.
The court of the city of Badajoz, which was contacted by AFP, confirmed that an investigation is being carried out against the Socialist president of the District Council of the district of the same name and against two employees of this service, but without naming Sanchez’s brother, David. The three suspects are alleged to have misused resources, exercised undue influence and committed other administrative and fiscal offences.
Manos limpias accuses David Sanchez, who is in charge of performing arts at the Council, of receiving a salary without appearing, as he should, at his workplace.
This organization had also sued Begonia Gomet, the wife of Pedro Sanchez, and a Madrid court is investigating her for corruption and undue influence. Last week, the investigator in charge of the case announced that Begonia Gometh had been called to testify on July 5.
Manos limpias admitted that the lawsuit was based solely on press articles.
