On the sidelines of the work of the Synod, Mr. Skrekas met with the US Under Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Jeffrey Pyatt
“Greece, with its partners and allies, will continue to steadily contribute to the joint effort to rebuild Ukraine, within the framework of its capabilities, of course.”
This was stated by the Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas speaking at the “Ukraine Recovery Conference – URC2024” in Berlin. The minister was accompanied by the general secretary of Private Investments of the Ministry of Development, Vasiliki Loizou, the Greek ambassador to Berlin Mara Marinaki and the special envoy of Greece for Ukraine, ambassador Spyros Lampridis.
As stated in the announcement, on the sidelines of the work of the Synod, Mr. Skrekas met with the US Deputy Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Geoffrey Pyatt. He also held meetings with Greek companies operating in Ukraine and participating in the Conference.
They were invited on behalf of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky representatives from 60 countries. The main objective of the Conference is to mobilize the international community to support the recovery, reconstruction, reform and modernization of Ukraine. The plan envisages the implementation of rapid infrastructure recovery projects and the creation of attractive business conditions to enable private sector investment in the country.
As the Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas stated:
“Democratic countries firmly support Ukraine, which is fighting, not only for its own independence and territorial integrity, but also for the common values and ideals of the entire free world. This important Conference, being held here in Berlin, comes at the right time to emphasize the need to rebuild Ukraine, in an organized and effective way.
Greece, with its partners and allies, will continue to steadily contribute to the joint effort to rebuild Ukraine, within the framework of its capabilities.
We are particularly interested in developing business prospects and synergies in a range of strategic sectors such as construction, transport, renewable energy, pharmaceutical and medical, new technologies, research and innovation. Of course, the contribution of our shipping, the Greek-owned fleet, but also our infrastructure, both in energy and in transport, is critical.”
