Hostilities continue in Rafa and the south Gauze despite the Israeli army’s announcement yesterday of regular pauses in its operations in order to allow the entry of humanitarian aid, Philip Lazzarini, head of the UNRWA.

The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday criticized plans announced by the army for daily pauses in operations along one of the main roads in the Palestinian enclave.

At the same time, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Ide said the Palestinian Authority could collapse in the coming months, citing a lack of funding, ongoing violence and the fact that half a million Palestinians are not allowed to work in Israel.

“The Palestinian Authority, with whom we work closely, is warning us that they might collapse this summer,” Barth Ide told Reuters.

Norway chairs the group of international donors to the Palestinians and is a supporter of the Palestinian Authority.
