Volodymyr Zelensky calls on citizens to fight for the liberation of Ukraine from Russian invaders in a new speech following Moscow’s announcement that it is expanding military operations.
The President of Ukraine calls on his people to continue to defend themselves with all their might against the Russian pounding.
“People are watching. The Ukrainians are strong. Ukrainians are brave. “The Ukrainians are in their country and they will never surrender,” was the inspiring message of Volodymyr Zelensky to the Ukrainian people, who are fighting with their fingernails and teeth against Russian troops.
“We will fight as long as necessary to liberate the country (…) The enemy has no chance in this indisputable civil war,” said the President of Ukraine.
The Russian army on Saturday received the order to expand its attack in all directions despite the growing international outcryas the Russian side claims that Kiev refused the negotiations.
“Today all units have been ordered to extend the attack in all directions, in accordance with the plan of attack,” Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in a statement.
He said pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, backed by the Russian military, were “succeeding”. These allegations cannot be directly verified by an independent source.
Russian artillery fire killed 19 civilians and wounded 73 others today in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.
Sky News reports that a total of 27 countries have agreed to reinforce Ukrainian forces following a donors’ teleconference organized late Friday by United Kingdom’s Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace. The arms embargo also lifted Berlin.
The armament will include anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, as well as ammunition and medical supplies.
