The Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Authority announced yesterday Thursday the death of a teenager from fire from Israeli forces in Kalkilya, in the occupied West Bank.

For its part, the Israeli army said when asked by AFP about “riots” during an “anti-terrorist operation” in Qalqilya, during which “suspects threw stones and glass bottles at soldiers”, who reacted by “opening fire ».

One of the rioters was hit, the same source added.

Naim Abdullah Samha, 15, succumbed to a “bullet from the occupation forces in the chest” at the hospital where he was being treated, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

On the other hand, Israeli police reported that an Israeli man succumbed to his injuries when he was attacked in his car near Qalqilya. He did not provide further details, nor did he make a connection with the teenager’s death.

In the West Bank, an area occupied by Israel since 1967, an escalation of violence was already recorded in the last two years, but there was a further escalation after October 7, when the war broke out in the Gaza Strip.

Since then, at least 547 Palestinians have been killed there, either in Israeli military operations or attacks by Jewish settlers, according to Palestinian Authority figures. On the other hand, at least 14 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks, according to official Israeli data.
