The second-in-command of North Korea’s armed forces criticized the US for expanding military support for Ukraine, as reported by the North’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Pointing to recent reports by the US Pentagon that the Ukrainian armed forces may use US weapons systems to strike targets on Russian soil, Park Yong-chon – vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the ruling Workers’ Party – argued that Russia has “the right to choose any kind of retaliation,” KCNA reports.
Pak added that North Korea will always stand by the people and armed forces of Russia “in the struggle to defend their sovereign rights.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Pyongyang a few days ago, for the first time in 24 years, signing a defense cooperation agreement with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
