Authorities investigate how the actor had such a large amount of ketamine in his possession that it led to his death
“Multiple people” may be charged in the death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry from an acute ketamine overdose last year, according to a US law enforcement source cited by People magazine.
The source claimed that the investigation into Matthew’s death – and who may have been drugging everyone’s favorite ‘Chandler’ – is “nearing its end” and that law enforcement believes “a lot of people” should be charged categories.
He also said the US Attorney’s Office will make the final decision on whether or not to prosecute.
A spokesman for the US Attorney’s Office told The Independent that it had “no comment” on the matter.
Investigation into how Perry came into possession of such a large amount of ketamine
Nearly seven months after Matthew Perry’s death in October 2023 at the age of 54, an investigation has been launched at both the federal and local levels into who supplied the actor with the ketamine that led to his death.
Authorities are looking into whether Perry received drugs in the mailaccording to TMZ who first broke the news.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) are involved in the investigation into how Perry came to have such a large amount of ketamine in his possession, confirmed the LAPD on Tuesday.
On October 28, 2023, paramedics found Perry unconscious in the hot tub at his home in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California. His death was confirmed a short time later.
Toxicological report confirmed that he died of “acute effects of ketamine“, which caused the actor to drown in the hot water.
Sources close to the actor said he was undergoing treatment by injecting ketamine to treat depression and anxiety.
In the findings of his autopsy, which were announced in December, it is established that the quantity of ketamine in his blood was that much as used for general anesthesia during surgery. This was also referred to as the leading cause of deathwhich was ruled an accident with no foul play suspected, the report said.
Drowning, coronary heart disease and the effects of buprenorphine were listed as contributing factors to his death, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
