by

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett offered to mediate in the dialogue between Russia and Ukraine during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported by Jerusalem Post.

Putin replied that he was ready for talks in Belarus, but that Ukraine had not accepted the offer.

“The Russian delegation is in the Belarusian city of Gomel and is ready to negotiate with the representatives of Kiev. “They have not taken this opportunity so far,” Putin said during a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett today, according to a Kremlin press release.

For its part, the Israeli leader’s office said in a press release that “the two men discussed the situation between Russia and Ukraine”, without going into details.

According to the state television network of Israel, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday asked Bennett to take over the mediation between Ukraine and Russia.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was open to dialogue but not in Belarus, where Russian troops attacked his country.

Recently, Zelensky had a telephone conversation with the leader of Belarus and Putin’s ally, Alexander Lukashenko.
