Atal stressed that the Ensemble candidates who came third should withdraw to support “another candidate who defends the values of Democracy” against the National Rally candidate.
“The extreme right is at the door of power” warned the outgoing prime minister of France, Gabriel Atal, after the announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections.
“Tonight is not a night like any other, the lesson of this night is that the extreme right is at the door of power,” Gabriel Atal warned, stressing that the goal now is “to prevent the National Rally from having an absolute majority in second round and from the governance of the country.
“I say this with the force that the moment demands to each of our voters. Not a single vote should go to the National Rally in such circumstances. France deserves not to hesitate. Never,’ he continued. The moral duty to do everything to prevent the worst from happening,” said the outgoing Prime Minister of France.
He emphasized that the Ensemble candidates who came third should withdraw to support “another candidate who defends the values of Democracy” against the candidate of the National Rally.
In closing, he emphasized that “it is an important choice. It is a heavy choice because it is a choice of responsibility. And I believe it deeply.”
