“Just like we beat Donald Trump in 2020, we’ll beat him again in 2024,” the US president reportedly said
Ending the scenarios of his retirement and responding to the pressures he receives in this direction, Joe Biden pledged to remain in the race for the White Houseduring a Wednesday afternoon phone call with campaign staff members: “I’m in this fight until the end“, said the American president according to the New York Times.
“We’re going to win because when Democrats come together, we always win,” Biden said, according to two people briefed on the conversation. “Just as we beat Donald Trump in 2020, we will beat him again in 2024.”
Biden acknowledged that the past few days have been a blow to his campaign, as some Democrats have publicly questioned whether he can defeat Donald Trump after his debate performance last week.
“No one is pushing me out,” he said. “I’m not leaving.”
Earlier today, reports spoke of the pressure exerted on the American president to withdraw from the electoral battle.
A New York Times bombshell report said he is now considering withdrawing from the presidential race, while Bloomberg revealed that dozens of Democratic congressmen are considering signing a letter demanding the US president to leave.
According to Bloomberg, citing a senior party official, Democrats are reportedly determined to take action as they panic that a Biden nomination will cost them control of Congress.
Biden is now rapidly losing the support of Democratic lawmakers and candidates, as they worry that the 81-year-old’s continued candidacy will lead to a sweeping Republican victory in Washington and, by extension, Donald Trump’s absolute control of the presidency.
Democratic candidates in traditionally safe Democratic districts are already circulating the letter, the official said, underscoring the extent of panic within the party.
The publication of New York Times was denied earlier by the White House during a briefing, during which it assured that the US president is not considering withdrawing his candidacy for the presidency in the November elections.
“Absolutely not,” White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said when asked if Biden was considering dropping out of the campaign.
The 81-year-old Democrat is “continuing his campaign,” he added.
Earlier, Biden had contacts with several prominent Democratic Party officials, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. He also recorded two interviews that will be broadcast tomorrow Thursday on the radio.
