THE Joe Biden before visiting Wisconsin and Pennsylvania this weekend he gave two interviews to local radio stations. Calling on voters to judge him on what he has done during his tenure, he admitted that he had “done a lot” during the telefight with former US President Donald Trump and he insisted he would continue in the race.
“I had a bad night,” said the American president speaking to the Milwaukee radio station, emphasizing, characteristically, “I messed up. I was wrong. It is (however) 90 minutes on stage. Look what I’ve been doing for three and a half years.”
Every statement and every appearance of the president of the United States now goes through the microscope of the Media, analysts and, of course, the voters. For Joe Biden himself, they are also steps of critical importance that will determine his course until the November polls, as well as the election result itself.
The image of a weak president, who can’t put two words in a row and completely loses his train of thought still raises concerns, despite reassuring statements from the American president, the White House and the 23 governors of the Democratic Party with whom the Joe Biden met on Wednesday.
The New York Times strikes again. With its new report, the American newspaper reveals that behind the closed doors of the meeting of the president of the USA with the governors of the party, Mr. Biden allegedly admitted that he feels the effects of fatigue, that he needs to work less and sleep . Citing two unnamed sources, the New York Times reports that the US president aims to reduce his duties after 8 p.m.
At the same time, the White House clarified to CNN that Joe Biden was examined by a doctor after the end of the debate, during which it was announced by his staff that he was dealing with a cold. However, in yesterday’s press briefing, White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre pointed out that the US president had not undergone a medical examination since last February.
Today, we expect to see him interviewed on the television network, ABC News, while all the polls show his popularity shrinking.
The gap with Donald Trump has now opened to six percentage points. In fact, in a poll for the Wall Street Journal, 80% of respondents said that the American president is too old for a second term – a percentage increased by seven percentage points since February.
The debate over whether more members of the Democratic Party will support Biden’s withdrawal remains. So far, two members of Congress have broken their silence. As far as his possible successors are concerned, the vice president of the USA, Kamala Harris, the governor of California, Gavin Newsom and the governor of Michigan. Gretchen Whitmer have chosen to publicly support the Biden candidacy.
