The far-right National Alarm (RN) party in France is likely to fail to win an outright majority in the second round of parliamentary elections on Sunday, as announced by OpinionWay, according to a poll conducted on behalf of the daily business newspaper Les Echos and published today.
The poll gives the RN a figure of between 205 and 230 seats which is more than the left-wing New People’s Front (NPF) with 145-175 seats, followed by the president’s centrists Emmanuel Macron with 130-162 seats.
For an absolute parliamentary majority, 289 seats are required.
Yesterday, a poll of IFOP for LCI and the Le Figaro it showed National Alarm winning 210-240 seats, down from 240-270 before candidate withdrawals.
The left New Popular Front it takes second place, garnering 170 to 200 seats, ahead of President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist coalition which receives 95-125 seats. Conservative Republicans are projected to win 25-45 seats.
Also, a Harris Interactive poll predicted the RN to secure 190-220 seats.
