Russia launched a drone strike against Ukraine overnight, hitting an energy facility in the Shumska region, officials said.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 24 out of 27 Russian drones launched against 12 Ukrainian regions, the air force announced.

Ukraine’s electricity transmission system operator Ukrenergo announced that the Shumska power facility was destroyed, causing emergency power outages for industrial users in the city of Shumska.

Work teams have been dispatched to the area to restore power.

At least 12 killed and 55 injured in attacks reported in Donetsk and Luhansk regions

At least seven people were killed and 29 wounded by Russian strikes in eastern Ukraine on Friday, while Ukrainian attacks on occupied territory killed five people and injured 26 others, local officials reported.

The Donetsk regional governor announced that a woman was killed and 20 others wounded by Russian artillery fire in the city of Komar, where homes, shops and an office building were destroyed. One dead and one wounded was the toll of a rocket attack in the city of Ukrainsk in the same region, he added.

“It is dangerous to live here, as in the rest of Donetsk region,” Vadim Filaskin wrote in a social media post, again urging the civilian population to leave for safety reasons.

Five people were killed and eight wounded in two Russian shellings, which took place an hour apart, in the town of Selindove, near the front line, the Donetsk regional governor said earlier.

Meanwhile, in the occupied territories of eastern Ukraine, Moscow-appointed officials say three people were killed and 10 wounded by a HIMARS missile fired by Ukrainian forces at the town of Volnovakha in the Donetsk region.

Another seven people were injured by Ukrainian shelling in Pervomaysk in neighboring Luhansk Oblast. Two deaths were later reported in the same area from a hit attributed to the Ukrainian armed forces.
