The president of France Emmanuel Macronasked Gabriel Atal to remain in the position of prime minister, in order to “ensure the stability of the country”.
Gabriel Attal, who is the youngest head of government in the history of the French Republic, led the election campaign of Macron’s centrist coalition, Together, in this election.
Yesterday morning he submitted his resignation to the president of the country, with Emmanuel Macron choosing to return it to him.
THE president of France he seems to deal the cards carefully and at the right time, while making sure to remain silent, letting his surroundings do the talking for him.
A month or so before he asked the citizens of France to take the fate of their country into their own hands and decide if they really want to be governed by the Lepen extreme right “National Rally” which with a percentage of more than 30% was elected first in Euro referendum of June 9.
Although his party was crushed, Emmanuel Macron called early parliamentary elections and led France to the polls two weeks later, with the majority still undecided whether it was a desperate or a diabolical move on his part.
The French, although they scared Europe in the first round of early parliamentary elections, eventually returned to their… factory settings and the bloc of the democratic front, shortly before the second round, against the advance of the extreme right bore fruit.
In terms of seats, the fragile alliance of the Left came first and the coalition of the far-right Lepen came third, losing the lead it had won on June 30 and the first round of early parliamentary elections.
But again the president of France chose not to open his papers.
On the contrary, immediately after the exit polls and the statements of Mélenchon – who called him, directly, to allow Insubordinate France to govern – a source from his environment said that “the presidential alliance lives and reigns”.
In fact, for his part, the French president reportedly called for prudence, clarifying that the results do not answer the question “who will govern”.
The ball comes back into his hands again but Macron doesn’t seem to be in a hurry. He chooses to wait first for the final composition of the new French national assembly to look for the most suitable teammates for the next day in the country.
France has already dived into uncharted waters and is looking for an answer to anarchy.
Unknown “x” is who will be the next prime minister and the need of the next day is the creation of a government of broad cooperation.
In view of the impasse, there are not a few who see as a possible scenario a government of technocrats for the first time in the country’s political history. But most agree that France is facing a prolonged period of instability, a long period of political uncertainty that could paralyze it politically for months.
Emmanuel Macron, according to the American network CNN, reportedly described his choice to resort to early elections “like a grenade that went off at the feet” of his opponents, winking at those who did not believe he would win the bet.
But the analysts insist that if there is no quick solution, and a government that will last does not emerge, then the grenade will explode at his feet with big losers France and its citizens, who already made a big concession by voting – some (many) of them – those who, under other circumstances, would not vote if only to avoid the worst they feared was to come
