Dead from Russian strikes in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions
At least five people were killed today by Russian strikes in Donetsk and Kharkiv regionsthe Ukrainian authorities announced.
Russian forces shelled five communities in Donetsk, regional governor Vadim Filaskin said, adding that a 15-year-old boy was killed and 12 people were wounded in Mirnograd, while two more civilians were killed in the communities of Novoselivka Persa and Shiversk.
In Kharkiv, the regional governor Oleh Sinekhubov announced that at least two people were killed and eight others were wounded by a Russian strike in the village of Bili Kolodies.
This community is close to the city of Bovchansk, which has been the target of Russian forces since May 10, who are launching fierce attacks in the surrounding area.
Monday’s Russian airstrike killed more than 40 people across Ukraine and destroyed Kiev’s largest children’s hospital, although Moscow insists it was only hitting military targets.
During the NATO summit in Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky received assurances that the Ukrainian armed forces will receive more air defense systems in order to effectively counter Russian attacks.
