US President Joe Biden’s campaign staff is conducting secret polls to gauge the strength of Vice President Kamala Harris against Donald Trump. the New York Times reports in their report.

The survey, conducted this week and commissioned for analysis by the team running the Biden campaign, according to the NYT, is the first since debate that associates of the American president seek to “measure” the vice president of the USA.

According to the same publication, it has not been clarified why the survey was conducted or what the Biden staff planned to do with the results. As the NYT points out, the investigation could possibly be an argument against the American president either in the direction of vindicating the voices of those calling for him to retire or as proof that Biden is still the primary choice of voters.

The move comes as some Biden aides and advisers appear convinced that the US president cannot win the presidential election and are trying to find ways to persuade him to drop out of the race.

According to the New York Times, while some of Biden’s top aides have privately argued that Kamala Harris could not win the election, donors and other supporters of the vice president believe she may be in a stronger position after the debate.
