US President Joe Biden traveled to Washington on Tuesday, two days after withdrawing his candidacy for the presidential race and announcing his support for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden spent nearly a week recovering from the coronavirus at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, during which he decided to drop his 2024 bid.

The US president wore glasses and a surgical mask as he boarded Air Force One for Washington, where he will address Americans from the Oval Office on Wednesday night.

Biden’s White House doctor said the president had tested negative for COVID and that his symptoms had resolved.

“The president continues to perform all of his presidential duties,” Dr. Kevin O’Connor wrote in a letter Tuesday.

Biden said that with his speech on Wednesday, scheduled for 4 o’clock Greek time, he will inform about “what lies ahead and how he will get the job done for the American people.”

On Thursday, he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the White House announced.
