Hundreds of citizens gathered on Wednesday night outside the police station in Rochdale, northern England, to protest after a video of an incident of police brutality was released.

The video shows a man from Greater Manchester Police forcefully kicking and stomping on the head of a man who is pinned face down on the floor of Manchester Airport.

The incident took place on Tuesday night.

The young man who was hit in the head while stopped is believed to be the suspect’s brother and they live in the Rochdale area.

According to the police department, during the operation to arrest a suspect in the airport car park, three police officers were violently attacked, with one female police officer suffering a broken nose and her colleagues needing hospital treatment.

It was also emphasized that there was a risk that the perpetrators of the attack against the police officers would grab the police weapons.

A total of four people were arrested on the charge of assaulting organs of order.

The police officer in the video, who was holding a stun gun, has been removed from “operational duties”, but has not been suspended.

The local police department said it understands the concern and reactions caused by the video and has voluntarily referred the case to the Independent Policing Office.
