There is no evidence that anything other than a bullet caused the wound to Donald Trump’s ear in the July 13 assassination attempt on the Republican presidential nomineehis former doctor announced today, as the doubts left by the FBI about what caused the bleeding in the president’s ear suddenly began to take on political ramifications, with Trump attacking the FBI.

Ronny Jackson, Trump’s doctor when he was president, released a statement today a day after Trump criticized FBI Director Christopher Wray for telling a House committee that it was unclear whether Trump was hit by a bullet or something else.

Yesterday, in his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, the FBI director stressed that it was unclear whether Trump was actually hit by a bullet or by bullet fragments. “With all due respect to former President Trump, there are some questions about whether it was a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear,” Wray told Committee Chairman Jim Jordan.

A spokesman for the Trump campaign, Jason Miller, called the version that Trump was not hit by a bullet a “conspiracy.”

According to a US official, the FBI is seeking to get a statement from Trump in the FBI’s investigation into the attempted murder in order to obtain a victim statement – a standard part of the investigation because he is the victim of a crime.

The FBI said in a statement yesterday that investigators are continuing to examine bullet fragments and other evidence in the July 13 attack on Trump at his campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The FBI made it clear from the beginning that it treated the incident as an assassination attempt on the former president.

Questions about Trump’s ear injury have sparked political backlash. Trump said he had “taken a bullet for democracy” and attacked Rey in the Truth Social for his deposition.

“There was no glass, there was no shrapnel. The hospital called it a “bullet wound to the ear” and that was it. No wonder the once famous FBI has lost America’s trust!” Trump wrote.

“Anyone who believes this conspiracy hoax is either mentally retarded or deliberately peddling lies for political reasons,” Trump adviser Stephen Chung told CNN.

Trump has been criticized for not speaking publicly about his health since the assassination attempt, which left one rally-goer dead and others injured. He released a memo from former White House physician and current Republican congressman Ronny Jackson about his recovery from the shooting, but did not allow medical professionals who treated him to speak publicly about his condition.
