Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has a two-point lead over Democratic rival Kamala Harris, according to a Wall Street Journal poll published yesterday, 100 days before the US presidential election.

This is a difference, smaller than the margin of statistical error of the survey (±3.1%).

Specifically, based on the poll, Donald Trump gathers 49% of the voting intentions, against 47% of Kamala Harris.

Earlier this month, according to another poll by the same newspaper, Donald Trump had a 6 percentage point lead over Democratic incumbent Joe Biden.

Kamala Harris’ momentum appears to be changing the presidential race

After the announcement of Harris’ candidacy for the US presidency, the hopes of Democrats that it is possible to prevent a second presidency of Donald Trump have been revived.

The dynamics developed by Kamala Harris has surprised even former Biden campaign officials, who last Sunday suddenly found themselves working on her candidacy after the US president resigned.

However, analysts point out that it is too early to draw conclusions about how Harris’ rise could change the presidential race that has long looked like a rematch between Biden and Trump. Harris has yet to pick a running mate with the Democratic convention just weeks away.

A debate between the two is also expected to be a deciding factor, drawing tens of millions of viewers and potentially changing the trajectory of the presidential race.
