It’s the day after his assassination attempt Donald Trump in Pennsylvania. The Republican candidate is officially nominated for the presidency. His speech is clearly softer. A Trump who seems to be more reasonable, without extreme voices. A Trump that creates hope, that something has changed after the attempt against him. Hope… faded in a few hours. In the next 24 hours, and especially after Joe Biden withdrew from the Democratic nomination race, Trump began to escalate his rhetoric against his new opponent, Kamala Harris. With personal characterizations, with head-on attacks, without even considering that he has a lady in front of him, the Republican tycoon shows his familiar face. Discredit, character assassination, below-the-belt hits… All at the altar of victory, with a looming three-pronged plan to completely deconstruct the Kamala Harris.

The latest polls show a trend of voters towards Kamala Harris, who, with her presence alone, seems to have covered the distance that separated Biden from Trump. It’s no wonder, then, that the Republican nominee has begun to escalate his attacks on Kamala Harris. A concerted, well-organized, three-pronged attack aimed at deconstructing her in the minds of voters and winning over that large wavering percentage:

Axis One: Calls Kamala Harris a “radical” leftist

For Trump and a very large percentage of Americans, being called a radical leftist is almost the same as being a terrorist. Let’s not forget that, regardless of government, for decades in the US, the logic of war against the left prevailed.

Trump and his associates point to specific statements and actions of Kamala Harris in order to substantiate their statements.

During 2019 – in debates and interviews – Ms. Harris endorsed the abolition of private health insurance, for a government system that would meet the needs of citizens. He supported the decriminalization of undocumented entry into the US and supported the abolition of ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. He supported sweeping environmental legislation for the Green New Deal and supported a ban on fracking and offshore drilling.

The positions that Kamala Harris expressed at the time are invoked by Trump to label her a “radical leftist”.

The campaign against the “radical candidate” includes the release of videos of Kamala Harris positions that have been isolated and presented to suit Republican tactics.

Trump’s goal, through the “radical Kamala” label, is to win over independent voters, who have been nurtured with the anti-leftist idea for decades.

Second axis: “Binding” Kamala Harris with Biden’s policies

Trump keeps repeating that Kamala Harris was and is Joe Biden’s running mate. The Republican tycoon criticizes on two grounds. On the one hand, he says that for four years, Kamala Harris was a “puppet” vice president, that is, she did not express political positions. On the other hand, since she was not expressing her own positions, Trump says that Kamala is adopting all of Biden’s policies. Policies that, according to the Republican candidate, displeased many people and that is why he is ahead in the polls and seems to be the favorite ahead of the November 5th elections.

Biden – and thus Kamala according to Trump – heard criticism about inflation and high prices, his handling of the war in Gaza, but also immigration, which is constantly plaguing American society.

“Kamala Harris is currently known only as a failed and unpopular vice president who backstabbed her boss to secure a nomination she couldn’t win, but voters are about to learn, she gets worse,” said Taylor Budowich, the who runs the political action committee linked to the Trump campaign.

Third axis: Attack on Kamala Harris’ years as a prosecutor

At the first public rally of her presidential campaign, Kamala Harris revealed a particularly sharp line of attack against the former president. Noting that he had served as a courtroom prosecutor and as California’s attorney general, he said he had dealt with “criminals of all kinds.” “So listen to me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type,” he concluded.

Trump’s campaign manager, Chris LaCivita, has already written a sample of what’s to come. The Trump campaign is gearing up for attacks on the current vice president’s prosecutorial record.

On the one hand, they are bashing her for being too tough — particularly on black men for drug crimes — in an effort to undermine support from her voter base. On the other hand, they cite cases where Ms. Harris either chose not to prosecute or allowed parole for people who went on to commit new crimes.

Democrats counter, saying that with these tactics, Trump’s Republicans won’t be able to reverse the upward trend of Kamala Harris. Who will be vindicated? It will be seen in the… applause, that is, in the ballot box on November 5.
