“Any action by the Zionist regime can lead to the worsening of instability, insecurity and war in the region,” said the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry – UN and EU call for restraint
After yesterday’s deadly attack that killed 12 children and youths in the Golan Heights, by a Hezbollah rocket on a Druze village, Israel launched a series of bombings overnight, targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.
Israeli authorities blame the Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite movement but Hezbollah denies any involvement.
Iran warned Israel today against any “new adventure”, as it called it, in Lebanon
“Any action (…) by the Zionist regime can lead to the worsening of instability, lack of security and war in the region,” noted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani.
Israel will bear responsibility for the “unforeseen consequences and reactions to such foolish behavior,” Kanani also warned.
For his part, Israel’s foreign minister, Israel Katz, said today that “Hezbollah has crossed all red lines” and that it is “a terrorist organization that deliberately opens fire on civilians.”
As tensions in the region escalate, the UN and EU have called for restraint, while the US has reiterated its support for Israel.
