Norwegian national, who is accused of being the head of a criminal gang that trafficked cocaine from Latin America to Europe by sailboat, was arrested in Bogota, announced yesterday Tuesday Colombian police.

As separate “investigations carried out by international agencies” showed, the arrested man “had criminal ties with the so-called Clan del Golfo (a.k.a. Colombia’s largest cartel) and Mexican cartels such as the Sinaloa and New Generation of Jalisco” , the police explained in a press release.

Pazouki Farhad, also known by the nickname El Profesor (“the professor”), coordinated “the production” of cocaine and “its traffic from South America to Europe” by sailboat, according to the same source.

He was taken into custody at El Dorado International Airport in the Colombian capital. His right-hand man, Bernsten Bjarte, also a Norwegian national, was arrested at the same time in Barranquilla (north), according to Colombian police.

On July 19, Spanish police announced the arrest of 50 people allegedly linked to Pazuki Farhad’s ring, both in Spain and in a total of seven other countries.

Colombia remains the world’s largest producer of cocaine, despite a decades-long “war” on drugs.
