The story of the 50-year-old American woman Lalita Kayi Kumar who was found emaciated and in a miserable condition in a jungle in India and specifically in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra last Saturday could be a movie but it is not.

The 50-year-old was found by a shepherd in the jungle in a village located about 450 kilometers from Mumbai. He heard her cries for help and immediately notified the authorities.

The American woman who found tied to a tree in India it seems she moved to the country a decade ago to learn yoga. The problems for her started when she got married. Their relationship began to have problems, senior officials told The Indian Express.

The identity card found in the woman’s belongings listed an address in Tamil Nadu, although she had actually been living in Goa – about 18 miles from where she was discovered – for the past few months, police added.

Now, her husband is wanted by the authorities for attempted murder as well as the 50-year-old herself he left her there, bound to die.

When the rescuers arrived at the place indicated by the shepherd, they saw the 50-year-old woman in a miserable condition. He couldn’t speak but gave it to investigators a handwritten note who accused her husband of tying her up and leaving her to die without food and water.

The note, which was written in English, also said that she herself suffers from medical problems, including “injection for extreme psychosis causing severe locked jaw and inability to drink water.” In fact, he revealed that had to eat or drink water for 40 days, although the police consider it unlikely that he would have been there for so many days, he said.

“Injection for extreme psychosis which caused an extremely locked jaw and inability to drink water. I want IV food. 40 days without food and water. Husband tied me to a tree in the forest and said I would die there.”
