Clearly in favor of their return Sculptors of the Parthenon from the British Museum in Greece, the British public opinion also favors a younger one poll.

According to the YouGov poll conducted on Wednesday among 4,869 adults, 49% are in favor of the return, compared to just 17% who say the Sculptures should remain in London.

26% of respondents said they don’t care what happens to the Sculptures, and 9% say they don’t know.

The percentages are almost unchanged from the same company’s previous poll on the same issue in November 2023: 49% in favor of returning, 15% in favor of staying in London, 26% no preference and 10% don’t know.

The highest percentage in favor of return is recorded in Scotland and Wales in terms of the geographical distribution of responses, namely at 55%. 47% of Londoners are in favor of the return, while 20% of the capital’s residents want classical antiquities to remain in their city (the largest percentage in favor of remaining by geographical region).

53% of women are in favor of the return (against 11% opposed) and 44% of men (against 23%).

In the analysis of the responses by party preference, the largest percentage in favor of return is found among the ruling Labor voters, i.e. 59%. Only 12% of Labor friends are against the return. The Conservative voters are in the majority and they are in favor of the return with 35% against 29%. Even voters in Nigel Farage’s far-right Reform party are marginally in favor of a return, with 30% to 29%.

All individual age groups are in favor of the return. The largest percentage in favor is in the 50-64 age group, with 53%.

Regarding the distribution of responses by social and economic level of the population, 50% of the three highest income categories and 46% of the three lowest corresponding categories are in favor of the letter. Only 17% of both of these groups are against the return.
