And who doesn’t remember aka Jake Angeli, who walked into the Senate semi-circle, sat down in Vice President Mike Pence’s chair, and left him a note
One of the iconic perpetrators of the attack on the headquarters of the US federal Congress, where he stormed topless, with visible tattoos, painted face, a fur hat with bison horns on his head and a spear in his hands, will recover these last two elements of his clothing, which they had been confiscated and remained in the possession of the authorities until now, by virtue of a decision of an American judge that was made public yesterday Monday.
“As the government has not demonstrated that it still needs these items as evidence (…) the court grants Mr. Chanceley’s request,” Judge Royce Lamberth said in his ruling.
THE 36-year-old Jacob Chanceley self proclaimed “shaman”, fan of various conspiracy theories far right dispersing the QAnon nebula, took part in the January 6, 2021 invasion of the federal Capitol by a horde of Donald Trump supporters to prevent lawmakers from formally ratifying Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.
Also known as Jake Angeli, he entered the Senate semi-circle, sat down in Vice President Mike Pence’s chair and left a note that read “it’s only a matter of time, justice is coming!”
Other supporters of Mr. Trump had set up gallows outside Congress specifically for Mr. Pence, who they called a “traitor.”
Mr Chanceley, originally from Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested a few days later; he was sentenced in 2021 for obstructing official proceedings. He was sentenced to 41 months in prison. He was released in the spring of 2023, but his personal belongings seized when he was arrested remained in the possession of the authorities.
In all, some 1,100 people have been charged with crimes of varying severity in the deadly attack on the federal Capitol, according to Justice Department data.
