Yemen’s Houthi rebels launch attacks on merchant and warships in solidarity with Palestinians
The captain of a ship reported being attacked by two small boats while sailing 45 nautical miles south of Moka, Yemen, and a rocket-propelled grenade exploded near it, Britain’s maritime safety agency UKMTO said.
Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels are launching attacks on merchant and warships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in a show of solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.
The ship and crew are safeor. The ship is heading to the next port, UKMTO said.
The two small, black-and-white boats were occupied by four people each wearing what looked like yellow-and-white raincoats.
The Houthi attacks, for which the US and Britain have launched strikes in retaliation, disrupt international trade. Many shipping companies rerouted their ships to avoid going through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, opting instead to go around Africa.
