The UN special rapporteur on the Palestinian territories, the Italian Francesca Albanesetoday accused Israel of “genocide” against Palestinians, following a bombing of a school in Gaza that killed 93 people, according to the Civil Protection of the Palestinian enclave.

“Israel is committing a genocide of Palestinians, one neighborhood at a time, one hospital at a time, one school, one refugee camp, one security zone,” after more than 10 months of war in the Gaza Strip, said Albanian in a post on the X social media.

Israel is carrying out such strikes against the Palestinians using “American and European weapons,” she also said.

“Let the Palestinians forgive us for our collective inability to protect them, respecting the most basic concept of international law,” he added.

Albanese, who is authorized by the UN Human Rights Council but does not speak on behalf of the body, made similar comments in March, prompting sharp criticism from Israel, which she accused of “anti-Semitism”.
