Her co-star Veronica Taylor, who voiced the story’s protagonist Ash Ketchum, confirmed Lillis’ death after a “battle” with breast cancer on Saturday.
“She was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice whether she was speaking or singing,” commented Taylor, adding that “she will forever be remembered for her many animated roles, her iconic performances as Misty of Pokemon and Jessie to be our favourites’.
Lillis’ sister, Laurie Orr, updated the GoFundMe account that the actress’ health began to deteriorate last week.
“This was unexpected and we are completely saddened. It breaks my heart to lose my dear little sister, although I am comforted knowing that she is free,” he said.
