Mr. Hamdan judged that Blinken’s statement causes “many uncertainties”, as the new proposal “is not the one that was presented to us”.
A senior official of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, Osama Hamdan, strongly criticized yesterday Monday a statement made earlier by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, according to which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted an updated proposal to declare a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking to the Reuters news agency, Mr. Hamdan judged that Mr. Blinken’s statement caused “a lot of uncertainty” as the new proposal “is not the one that was presented to us and that we agreed to.”
Furthermore, the Hamas official recalled that the movement has already told the mediators in the indirect negotiations – Qatar, Egypt, the US – and insists on the position that “we do not need new talks on the cease-fire in Gaza, we need to agree on an implementation mechanism” .
According to Osama Hamdan, the new leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, is involved from the beginning in the decision-making process regarding the possible cease-fire agreement.
“Due to security conditions, communication with Sinuar is done through tools and mechanisms that have been created and are working smoothly,” he explained.
