A truck carrying more than $5 million worth of methamphetamine inside fake watermelons at the US-Mexico border failed to fool US Border Patrol officials, the BBC reports.

The drugs were in a wrapper that resembled a watermelon in order to mislead the authorities. In fact, the fake watermelons that were filled with drugs were placed next to real watermelons, to cause confusion.

More than two tons of methamphetamine in 1,220 watermelons were seized by the authorities.

Drugs even in Gouda cheese

Disguising drugs to look like fruit or food in general is a common way to smuggle illegal substances across borders.

Authorities have seized drugs in bananas, avocados and even Gouda cheese.

The seizure of the watermelons in question came a week after US Border Patrol officials discovered nearly 300 kilograms of methamphetamine in a shipment of celery.

Both shipments totaled $6 million, according to CBS News, the BBC’s US partner.
