Biden called Zelensky and informed him about a new military aid package
The US will deliver a new package of military aid to Ukraine, including anti-aircraft missiles, US President Joe Biden announced today after a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.
Despite the ongoing Russian invasion, Ukraine “remains a free country”, says Biden in his statement, emphasizing – on the eve of the anniversary of Ukraine’s declaration of independence – that “the war will end with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine”.
The new military aid package includes “anti-aircraft missiles to protect Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, anti-drone equipment and anti-tank missiles to counter Russian tactics on the battlefield,” Biden noted, without specifying the estimated value of that package.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, two and a half years ago, Washington has been the main supporter of Kiev with the amount of total military aid estimated, to date, at 55 billion dollars.
“Russia will not prevail in this conflict. The independent people of Ukraine will prevail and the US, with its allies and partners, will continue to stand by them“, the US president said.
