15 police officers suffered injuries from minor skirmishes, while approximately 90 arrests have been made

A 32-year-old woman in London is in a serious condition after being stabbed with a knife at Notting Hill Carnival on Sunday.
Two more people, two men aged 29 and 24, are also being treated in hospital with stab wounds in separate incidents, in a less serious condition.
“Europe’s biggest street party”, as the organizers describe the carnival, takes place on the last weekend and Monday of August every year in the famous district of the British capital, but every year it is marred by violent incidents and injuries.
According to the police, “a minority came this weekend to commit crime and engage in violence.” 15 police officers were injured in minor skirmishes, while around 90 arrests have been made (for possession of offensive weapons, for assaulting law enforcement officers, for possession of drugs, for theft and for sexual harassment), even on Sunday, which is the day for children and the families.
The carnival has been organized for decades to showcase the culture of London’s large Caribbean community.
It concludes this evening, a public holiday in the UK, with the usual musical parade and dance bands. It is estimated that over 1 million citizens will have participated in the events of this three days.
