Zaporizhia nuclear plant at the center of Russian bombing

by

The largest nuclear plant in Europe, in Zaporizhia, Ukraine, is at the center of the Russian bombing, while the Russian invasion of Ukraine has now entered its ninth day.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has accused the Russian military of firing on the plant from all sides.
He said a fire had already broken out and warned that if there was an explosion at the facility, things would be ten times worse than at Chernobyl, where one of the worst nuclear accidents in history took place.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy demanded that the Russian armed forces immediately cease fire, allow firefighters to intervene in the factory and set up a security perimeter.

The perceived level of radioactivity at the site of the nuclear plant in Zaporizhia, in central Ukraine, remains unchanged, reports the Russian news agency RIA, citing a representative of the Ukrainian facility.

The agency, citing a spokesman for Ukraine’s emergency services, also said that the fire that broke out due to Russian fire was outside the perimeter of the facility and that one of the power plants at the station had been shut down.

Earlier, there was talk of a blow to a unit and a fire in part of the facility, while an unnamed Ukrainian official spoke about the increased level of radioactivity in the American news agency Associated Press.

At the same time, according to Ukrainian officials, in the area fighting is raging between Russian troops and Ukrainian forces and there are casualties. However, they did not report the exact number of victims
Earlier, Ukrainian authorities announced that the Russian military had stepped up its efforts to seize the facility and had deployed several tanks in the area.

Fighting is raging on the outskirts of Kiev, with roadblocks set up in the city center and the Ukrainian army being fired upon at various points.
Chaos prevails in Mariupol, which is under siege by the Russian army. The eastern part of the city was bombed by rockets.

Ukrainian official stressed that Russian troops are located just outside Kharkov.
In Kherson, which is under Russian control, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry announced that the TV tower was in Russian hands and warned residents of an attempt to spread false news and propaganda.
The ministry assured residents that “the government will never hand over a single inch of the country.”
Meanwhile, 33 people were killed by the Russian blow against two schools and houses in the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv, as announced by the rescue service.

The US Pentagon has announced that 90% of the troops on the Ukrainian border have entered Ukrainian territory.
