The armed forces of Ukraine do not stop attempts to enter the city of Kursk
The government of Russia’s Kursk Region announced today that it will introduce additional security measures in the city of Kurchatov and the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant starting tomorrow, August 29.
Entry to the city of Kurchatov, where the station is located, will be temporarily restricted, Kursk Oblast Acting Governor Alexei Smirnov said in a post on the Telegram app.
Smirnov linked this decision to the fact that “the armed forces of Ukraine do not stop their attempts to enter the city” and the status of the “anti-terrorist operation”, which is in force in the Kursk region.
From his post it is inferred that there will be roadblocks at the entrance to the city. Residents of the city of Kurchatov who live in it will pass freely. Those who work in the city must obtain a special permit from the relevant city authorities.
The passage of any means of transport through the city of Kurchatov will be stopped.
Ukrainian forces stormed across Russia’s western border into the Kursk region on August 6 in a surprise incursion that is still ongoing, with fighting taking place within about 40 kilometers of the nuclear facility.
