Athena Linou’s announcement after her removal from the Parliamentary Group – Attack on Stefanos Kasselakis who “confesses to participating in the malicious slanders of Mr. Polakis” – SYRIZA: The seat belongs to the party
Her decision not to hand over her parliamentary seat, despite her official removal from the Parliamentary Group SYRIZAannounced in a statement Athena Linoupersonally addressing Stefanos Kasselakis.
Mrs. Linou refuses, as she says, to admit a “non-existent guilt” and accuses the president of SYRIZA that “you are admitting to participating in the malicious slanders of Mr. Polakis against me, acting as an uninvited judge.”
Athena Linou’s announcement:
“Dear Mr. Kasselakis,
You asked me today through the Director of your office, Mr. Kapnisakis, to resign from my position as an MP of the SYRIZA-PS party, allegedly citing a lack of transparency in my work and already making relevant public statements. In this way you are asking me to accept a non-existent guilt. Obviously, this is not possible for me to do. You also understand, of course, that in this way you are admitting that you are participating in the malicious slanders of Mr. Polakis against me, acting as an uninvited judge.
And it’s a wonder when you got around to reading the 459 pages of evidence proving the impeccable management of Prolepsis to make your morally and logically meteoric claim. So I am informing you that I am not going to resign as a member of the Greek Parliament, nor to surrender the seat that was given to me by my 25,000 plus voters”.
The deletion letter sent by Nikos Pappas
Earlier on Wednesday, the director of the SYRIZA president’s office, Manolis Kapnisakistried to contact Mrs. Linou by phone, but this was not possible.
THE Stefanos Kasselakiswith his statements, had asked Mrs. Linou to resign and hand over her seat, however there was no response from the deputy even to the president’s appeals.
More specifically, Stefanos Kasselakis, when asked about Ms. Linou, stated in his statements to MEGA that “her explanations have not covered me and my office has requested her resignation and the facilitation of handing over the seat. He has not responded to anything, no phone calls, no sms and no whatsapp. We await her response. The request we have made is on record, it is clear that she must hand over her seat to the first runner-up. Responding to messages whether by phone or text is a minimal sample of responsiveness that should be present at this time.”
With reference to the essence of the case and the investigation of the complaints against Ms. Linou, the president of SYRIZA, leaving clear points, even raised the question of the MP’s participation in the SYRIZA ballot.
In particular, Mr. Kasselakis noted that “I am not a prosecutor but there are things that should have been investigated before its inclusion in the SYRIZA ballot and this is a message that we should be prepared”.
Shortly before 6:00 p.m., Nikos Pappas drafted the letter of deletion of Athena Linou, which he officially communicated to the president of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoula.

The conflict with Polakis that led to the deletion
The conflict between Mr. Polakis and Ms. Linou, which had taken the form of a war recently, with the former launching fierce attacks against her and the latter responding on Tuesday with an out-of-court statement, intensified the internal party problems, a fact that was demonstrated by the decision of Mr. Kasselakis to replace Sokratis Famellos with Nikos Pappas as the chairman of the Parliamentary Group.
In view of the major conflict in the Central Committee and with the open issue of the questioning that Pavlos Polakis has raised against him, Stefanos Kasselakis may be trying to lower the tone as after yesterday’s vote the “87” noted that the president has not the majority in K.O., “Kasselakis, has 17 out of 35 deputies”.
