The US military on Thursday defended an employee Arlington National Cemetery who pushed back during a visit from former President Donald Trump, saying she “acted professionally and was unfairly attacked.”

The military rarely comments on political issuesand the statement did not specifically mention Trump or his campaign, but referred to a ceremony on Monday.

Trump, the Republican nominee in the Nov. 5 presidential election, visited the cemetery that day, and participated in a wreath-laying ceremony honoring the 13 service members killed during the 2021 US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

He also visited section 60 of the cemetery, where soldiers are buried and is considered a “holy place” for the US military.

Federal law and Pentagon policies they do not allow political activities in this part of the cemetery, however, the Trump campaign shot a campaign video, Reuters reports.
