The first presidential visit from Egypt to Turkey, after 12 years, ended in a positive atmosphere.

After their meetings, Erdogan and al-Sisi made statements to the cameras after previously signing 17 different agreements.

President Erdogan said in his remarks that Israel is responsible for every innocent person who dies in Palestine, while the Egyptian President said that Egypt will continue to work with Turkey to stop Israel’s violations in the West Bank.

“We want to develop our cooperation with Egypt in the field of energy, especially in natural gas and nuclear energy. The brotherly Egyptian people show great interest in Turkish culture and Turkish language. I believe that the positive dynamics in our relations will also be reflected in the tourism sector. The contribution of Turkey and Egypt to regional peace and stability is vitalErdogan said, stressing that the current situation in Palestine was the focus of the discussions with the Egyptian President.

“Turkey and Egypt have a common position on the Palestinian issue. Ending the genocide and establishing a permanent ceasefire as soon as possible remains our priority. 32 percent of the aid that has reached Gaza has left Turkey and I would like to thank the Egyptian Red Crescent for working with the Turkish Red Crescent to provide this aid“, added the Turkish President.

For his part, al-Sisi pointed out that he feels sincerely grateful for the hospitality with his visit being an indication that the deep-rooted relations between the two countries will develop even more.

“There are undoubtedly many common points that bring us together. In the previous period, we saw that there was more communication between the Turkish and Egyptian people with tourism. We see that this cooperation has grown even more with increasing Turkish investments in our country“, he emphasized, summarizing that the visit of President Erdogan last February, to Egypt, gave a special boost to the relations between the two countries.

“We have decided to take joint steps in many areas such as trade, tourism and agriculture. Undoubtedly, increasing trade between the two countries, developing a free trade agreement and achieving mutual trade volume are among our common goals“, he emphasized.

“We decided that we must work together to prevent humanitarian crises. We must work more intensively, especially with our brothers in Palestine and Gaza“, he said, underlining that the two countries emphasize the necessity for a ceasefire, an end to the occupation of the West Bank and the right of Palestine to establish a state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

“We are making every effort to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches Gaza».

The Egyptian president also confirmed that issues of security and stability were discussed.

Regarding Libya, he said that Turkey and Egypt are advocating that both the presidential and parliamentary elections, ensuring security there and the withdrawal of the armed forces from the country are important.

“We also discussed the issue of ending the crisis that has adversely affected the Syrian people. We welcome the rapprochement between Turkey and Syria. We also discussed the issue of Sudan. I transferred Egypt’s efforts.”, he concluded.
