When Taylor Swift publicly announced yesterday, shortly after the end of the debate, that she was supporting Kamala Harris in the US election, former US President Donald Trump and his VP candidate JD Vance surely had no idea how much influence the specific post.

Her announcement, which she posted on Instagram around 11pm on Tuesday night, garnered 9.3 million likes. Also, this public endorsement of the world-famous singer may boost Democratic voter registration beyond their “wildest dreams”.

The General Services Administration, which oversees the site, confirmed to NBC News that by 2 p.m. local time yesterday Wednesday, 337,826 people they had visited a custom URL that Swift posted on Instagram when she announced her endorsement of Kamala Harris.

The custom URL directs people to vote.gov, a website that helps visitors register to vote in their states. The site also breaks down Americans’ voting rights, explains election procedures and provides a road map to frequently asked questions.

Swift’s post Tuesday urged voters to do their own research and remember to register.

“I did my research and made my choice,” he said. “The research is yours and the choice is yours. I also want to say, especially to those voting for the first time: Remember that in order to vote, you must be registered! I also find it much easier to vote early and you’ll see in the link where you can register and you’ll find early voting dates and information in my story.”

The results from the registrations made in just a few hours reflect the influence of Taylor Swift.

Trump’s reaction: He will “pay the price”

Donald Trump, for his part, could not ignore Swift’s support of Kamala. He praised the singer as “beautiful” but “liberal” and noted that, as president, he signed a bill that changed the way musicians receive royalties from their songs, which he claimed financially benefited artists such as Mrs. Swift.

“I wasn’t a fan of Taylor Swift, it was just a matter of time,” Trump said in an interview on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday morning. “He’s a very liberal person, he always seems to support a Democrat, and he’s probably going to pay a price for that in the market,” Trump said Wednesday morning on Fox News.

Jay Dee Vance, in turn, said in an interview with Fox that “we admire Taylor Swift’s music, but I don’t think most Americans, whether they like her music, whether they’re fans or not, are going to be influenced by a famous billionaire who I think is fundamentally out of touch with the interests and problems of most Americans.”

“When food prices go up 20%, that hurts most Americans, it doesn’t hurt Taylor Swift. When housing prices become unaffordable, it doesn’t affect Taylor Swift or any other billionaire. It affects middle-class Americans across the country.”

However, Taylor Swift hit back in her own way at comments made by Senator Jay Dee Vance who also said “childless cat ladies” like Ms Harris have no “direct stake” in the country’s future, posting a photo of her holding her blue-eyed, white, black and brown cat, Benjamin Button, and captioned the message, “Taylor Swift, childless cat lady.”
