Harris has a five percentage point lead among registered voters, increasing her 4% lead over Trump
US Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris leads Republican Donald Trump 47% to 42% in the November 5 presidential race. increasing her lead after the debate, which voters believe she won, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that ended Thursday.
The two-day poll showed Harris with a five-percentage-point lead among registered voters, increasing the 4% she had over Trump in a poll Reuters/Ipsos on August 21-28.
Among voters who said they had attended at least part of Tuesday’s debate, 53% said Harris won compared to 24% who pointed to Trump as the winner. About 52 percent of those polled said Trump was lazy and not sharp, compared to 21 percent who said the same about Harris.
The poll, conducted nationwide, involved 1,690 adults, including 1,405 registered voters. The margin of error is about three percentage points for registered voters.
While national surveys, including Reuters/Ipsos polls, give important signals about the views of the electorate, the results of the Electoral College determine the winner, with some key states being decisive.
