A surface-to-surface missile was launched from the Yemen and hit uninhabited area in central Israel without causing any injuries, the Israeli military said on Sunday.

A little earlier, after months, sirens sounded warning of an imminent airstrike in Tel Aviv and central Israel, with residents rushing to shelters.

“Following the sirens that sounded a while ago in central Israel, a surface-to-surface missile was spotted passing into central Israel from the east and fell in an open area. No injuries were reported,” the military said.

Loud explosions were heard in the area, which the military said came from missile interceptors that had been fired. He added that protective guidelines for Israeli residents remained unchanged.

In July, Yemen’s Houthis launched a long-range drone into Tel Aviv, killing one man and injuring four others.

Israel responded with a major airstrike on Houthi military targets near the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, killing at least three people and injuring 87.
