Netanyahu will attend the United Nations General Assembly later this month
The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the rebels today Houthi of Yemen in retaliation after the group claimed responsibility for a rocket attack in central Israel.
“This morning, the Houthis fired a surface-to-surface missile from Yemen into our territory. They should know (…) that they will pay a heavy price every time they try to harm us,” Netanyahu said at the start of a weekly cabinet meeting, according to a statement.
The current situation in northern Israel will not continue, he added, expressing his intention to do everything possible to return those displaced from there to their homes.
Houthi rebels who control northern Yemen claimed responsibility for launching a surface-to-surface missile that reached central Israel for the first time today and hit an uninhabited area, causing no casualties.
Today’s strike appears to mark the first time the Houthis have penetrated so deeply into Israeli airspace with a missile.
At the same time, Netanyahu’s office announced today that the Israeli prime minister will attend the United Nations General Assembly this month.
