Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again today asked his Western allies to allow Kiev to strike military targets deep in Russia, particularly air bases, after a new Russian attack on Kharkiv.

At least 41 people, including three children, were injured today by Russian shelling that hit a high-rise building in Kharkiv, local governor Oleh Sinyekhubov said, adding that a woman and a 12-year-old boy were in serious condition.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the Russian military hit the 10th floor of the building, causing a fire that was extinguished by firefighters.

“Only a systemic solution makes it possible to resist this terror: the solution of long-range weapons to destroy the Russian military air force where it has its bases,” Zelensky stressed.

“We are waiting for the appropriate decisions mainly from the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy,” he added.

In addition to the strike in Kharkiv, the Ukrainian president said that Russian forces also hit Ukraine’s Sumy and Donetsk provinces with guided bombs today.

The Russian military launches “at least a hundred such airstrikes” with guided bombs every day, Zelensky said.
