The Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is proceeding with a restructuring of the services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by establishing a special directorate which will be responsible for security alongside the police and her National Intelligence Organization (MİT), according to what the SKAI correspondent in Istanbul broadcasts, Manolis Kostidis.

Commenting on the initiatives of the Turkish Foreign Minister, many say that Fidan, due to his previous tenure, is changing everything as it was at MIT.

In particular, according to the announcement in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Directorate of Diplomatic Security.

“This general directorate will be responsible for ensuring the security of the ministry’s headquarters, domestic facilities and Turkish missions abroad, as well as carrying out related operations and transactions. It will ensure cyber security, communication, documents and information. Another task of the directorate-general, which is tasked with “ensuring the continued reliability of personnel working in the Ministry’s central and overseas organizations and coordinating security investigation procedures with relevant agencies,” reads as follows:

“Arrangements and measures to be taken to protect foreign delegations and persons who come to the Ministry from abroad, as well as the minister and persons deemed appropriate to be protected by the minister, as long as they are related to the Ministry’s field of duties, the announcement adds .

“The directorate will also provide security training to ministry staff, other public servants appointed abroad and other persons to be determined by the minister. The needs for security personnel and equipment required to fulfill the duties of this Directorate will be covered by the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Defence or competent public bodies and organizations”.
