The Judicial Council, which decided the case, sentenced the prisoners Ahmet Koray Özgürün and Alperen Erkut to 10 years in prison for the crime of “obtaining prohibited information for espionage purposes” of the Mossad, as reported by SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis.

Taking into account the possible future effects of the accused, the commission applied a discretionary reduction of this sentence and reduced it to 8 years and 4 months. The commission sentenced all 35 defendants to 8 years in prison for the same crime. Considering the possible consequences for the future of the defendants, the court reduced this sentence to 6 years and 8 months and decided that the defendants would be prohibited from traveling abroad

From the indictment

In the indictment prepared by the General Prosecutor’s Office in Istanbul, it was stated that the Israeli intelligence service carried out remote, online operations through Internet-based mobile applications to carry out routine operations towards its targets in the field.

It was noted that the first contact was made through Telegram and WhatsApp applications encrypted on mobile phones, social media accounts, Linkedin and e-mail.

It was further stated that there were no video calls or voice calls, and that payments for the work being done were done through international money transfer companies, cryptocurrencies, money transfer offices and live couriers, used in jobs that needed to be done professionally.

In regular work, mostly unsuspecting people are used, and people who undertake regular work are assigned tasks such as: creating and managing a WhatsApp group, creating and managing a website, designing an online news paper, researching, transferring money , photo and video documentation, stalking, assault and wounding, robbery.

Finally, it was noted that instructions were given to provide operational networks and conduct research in Syria and Lebanon.
