The preliminary investigation by the security services in Beirut shows that the communication devices that exploded the previous two days in various areas of Lebanon, were trapped before reaching the country, according to a letter from the Lebanese diplomatic mission to the United Nations which was obtained by the news agency Reuters.

Lebanese authorities also ruled that the explosives in the bugged buzzers and portable radios procured by Hezbollah members were detonated by sending electronic messages to those devices, the letter to the UN Security Council said. Israel was responsible for the planning and execution of the attacks, it is underlined.

The 15-member UN Security Council will meet tomorrow Friday to discuss the barrage of explosions on communications devices in Lebanon. The explosions killed at least 37 people, while more than 3,000 were injured.

Israel has not claimed responsibility or commented on the attacks. However, analysts speculate that it may be the work of Israel’s Mossad, which has a long history of conducting complex operations abroad.
