A zoo in China he admitted that his “sight” – two pandas – are not pandas, just dogs painted as pandas! Notably, videos posted on social media have gone viral, with users trolling the zoo.

Fluffy Chow Chow dogspainted to resemble the country’s beloved national animal, were – initially – seen in a video taken by a visitor to the zoo in the southern province of Guangdong. The video, published on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, went “viral” and within a short time it had been viewed by more than 2 million users.

The zoo’s director, Mr. Huang, said the dogs are one of its top attractions. “These are Chow Chow dogs being painted (as always) as this is part of this special show that we offer”he pointed out.

This is not the first time that dogs have been painted to look like pandas or other wild animals in China. In May, a zoo in the eastern province of Jiangsu sparked outrage when visitors discovered it had painted two dogs in black and white to look like pandas.

A coffee shop in the southwestern city of Chengdu also came under fire in 2019 for offering people a paint service to make their pets look like everything. And in 2016, pet shops in Guangdong were caught selling painted dogs. They wanted to look like tigers.
