“The Israeli regime used several 2,500 kg armor-piercing bombs donated by the US to hit residential areas in Beirut,” the Iranian foreign minister said.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denounced that Israel used American armor-piercing bombs (including the so-called “bunker busters” for the destruction of shelters) during Friday’s attack on Beirut.
“The Israeli regime used several 2,500 kg armor-piercing bombs donated by the US to hit residential areas in Beirut,” Iran’s foreign minister told a UN Security Council meeting for the Middle East.
Top Hezbollah officials were targeted in an Israeli strike on the group’s headquarters in the suburbs of Beirut, a senior Israeli official said, stressing that it was still too early to say for sure whether Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had been killed.
The Iranian foreign minister also denounced “scandalous threats” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who warned from the floor of the UN General Assembly about his country’s ability to strike Iran.
“It is a historical disgrace that a notorious murderer appears at the United Nations and poisons the General Assembly with disgusting lies and outrageous threats to invade other countries and kill more people,” said Iran’s head of diplomacy, Abbas Araghchi.
