The body of the Hezbollah leader was recovered from the rubble today, a medical and security source told Reuters.
With bunker buster bombs – specially designed to destroy underground structures – Israel appears to have leveled Hezbollah’s Beirut headquarters, killing the group’s leader Hassan Nasrallah and other top commanders who were with him.
In Operation Nasrallah’s “New Order,” the Israeli Air Force dropped about 85 such bombs, weighing 2.3 tons each, on the exact same spot, leveling the headquarters and opening a 30-meter-deep crater.
Videos circulating on social media today show the operation to retrieve the body of Nasrallah and other Hezbollah officials from the crater.

While Hezbollah’s statement on Saturday confirming Nasrallah’s death did not say exactly how he was killed, the two sources said the body had no “direct wounds” and the cause of death appeared to be blunt force trauma from the force of the blast.
