Israel’s military said it would expand operations on multiple fronts around the anniversary of the Oct. 7 attacks on Monday, while also preparing for “significant and serious” retaliation against Iran for last week’s large-scale ballistic missile attack on Israel.

“The IDF [ισραηλινός στρατός] is preparing a response to Iran’s unprecedented and illegal attack on Israeli civilians and Israel,” a military official said, as reported by the Guardian.

At the same time, the Jerusalem Post reports that there is a broad recommendation within the IDF to respond to the Iranian attack while minimizing risks and maximizing opportunities.

In particular, according to the same publication, the Israeli Army clarified that the fight is currently taking place on seven different fronts, as alongside the ongoing fighting in Gaza and the West Bank, Israeli soldiers and forces are involved in operations in Lebanon, Iran and his proxies in Yemen, Syria and Iraq;

Regarding the retaliation against Iran, the Israeli media, citing the Israel Defense Forces, says that the army plans to respond “significantly”, without however clarifying the nature of the response.

In the meantime, all possibilities for the blow that Israel will choose to respond remain open with Washington, in fact, as an American official told CNN that he has not received any assurance from Israel that a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities is out of the question, he said in CNN top US State Department official on Friday, as the West awaits Tel Aviv’s response to the missile attack launched by Tehran last Tuesday night.

The official added that it is “really hard” to predict whether Israel will use the anniversary of the October 7 attacks by Hamas to retaliate.

“We hope and expect to see some wisdom, as well as strength, but as you know, there’s no guarantee,” the official said when asked by CNN if Israel has assured the US that Iran’s nuclear facilities are off the table.

Wave of fierce raids in Beirut

The Israeli air force also carried out raids on other Hezbollah command centers and infrastructure in Beirut.

Indicative of the severity of the raids is the fact that the Israeli air force hit the suburb of Dahiya six times in 20 minutes, the Israeli media reported.

The IDF said it carried out a wave of airstrikes against Hezbollah’s intelligence agency.

Overnight, several more strikes were carried out in Beirut, which the military said targeted weapons depots, command rooms and other infrastructure.
